Mary Therese Doheny, J.D.

A strong leader in the area of family law, Mary Therese Doheny is experienced in family law litigation as well as in conflict mediation and collaborative dispute resolution.  Her knowledge, strength and loyalty to her clients makes her distinguished in the field of family law. 

Ms. Doheny has extensive experience in complicated custody cases involving evaluations and guardian ad litem for the children. Also, she has tried and settled many family law financial cases involving valuations of corporations, determinations of child support and maintenance and division of marital property.

Ms. Doheny, a native of Chicago, spent the first eight years of her practice in Seattle, Washington, and worked with many disability groups, as well as in family law and probate.  On her return to Chicago, she joined the Cook County Public Guardian's Office in the Divorce Division where she represented children and participated in many trials. She is Chair of the Cook County Child Representative Selection and Training Committees and is a favorite at many family law seminars.

David J. Wessel, a founding partner, has a background in both social work and law and was a calming influence. He is currently semi-retired, but his influence is still apparent in the firm.
